Aru speaks about PSM detainees

S.Arutchelvan, the Secretary-General of Parti Socialis Malaysia (PSM) was at Penang High Court 3 today. An application was made for a judicial revision to the seven days remand. The decision will be announced tomorrow. Thirty PSM members were detained on 25th June under Section 122 of the Penal Code for allegedly waging a war against the Agong. Among those arrested were the elderly, women, two seventeen year old students, a teacher and an MP.

Forum ini akan diadakan di Dewan Bosch, Tingkat 1, Kompleks Mesyuarat Penyayang, Jalan Utama dan akan bermula pada jam 9.00 pagi hingga 12.30 tengahari. Forum ini akan dipengerusikan oleh YB Chow Kon Yeow, Pengerusi Jawatankuasa MMK Kerajaan Tempatan dan Pengurusan Lalu Lintas. Isu yang akan dibangkit dan dibincang pada forum kali ini adalah isu perumahan. Pembentangan termasuk Perumahan Mampu Milik bagi rakyat Pulau Pinang dan Pergerakan harga rumah di Pulau Pinang. MEMORANDUM TO PENANG CHIEF POLICE OFFICER 29 JUNE 2011 ARBITRARY ARRESTS AND FALSE ACCUSATIONS AGAINST PSM ACTIVISTS We the undersigned civil society groups in Penang strongly condemn the arrest of 30 PSM activists under Section 122 of the Penal Code 122 for “waging wars against the Yang DiPertuan Agong” that carries life imprisonment for a term not exceeding 20 years. The PSM activists, including Sungai Siput MP D Jeyakumar were halted by police at the Sungai Dua toll plaza, when they were on their way to attend a ceramah dubbed ‘Udahlah tu, bersaralah BN’ at Bayan Baru. The police who found PRM leaflets and newsletter and other paraphemalia including T-Shirts bearing the images of former Communist fighters Chin Peng, Suriani Abdullah and Rashid Maidin, came to the conclusion that the group was trying to revive the communist ideology and therefore they should be investigated for “waging war against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong”. Justeru, kita tidak akan menghalang sekiranya ada mana-mana pihak yang akan mencabar keputusan ini di mahkamah. Silakan, tindakan tersebut akan dianggap cuba berkonfrantasi dengan kerajaan negeri.
